Indian passport holders can apply for Egypt's e-Visa online — despite what a lot of travel sites still claim, India is on the official eligible list. We submit through the government portal rather than one of the many lookalike reseller sites.

Why people go
Egypt sells itself on a single image — the Pyramids — but what keeps Indian travellers coming is how much history is packed into a week, and how affordable that week is compared with Europe. It is a five to six hour flight, the Nile cruise structure means you unpack once and wake up at a new temple each morning, and the Grand Egyptian Museum has given the classic itinerary a major new anchor. There is also a growing wedding and celebration market around Cairo and the Red Sea resorts. Indian food is available in Cairo, and Egyptian cooking — koshari, ful, grilled meats, flatbread — sits comfortably with most Indian palates.

Common rejection reasons & how to avoid them
Applying less than 7 days before travel
Egypt's official guidance says to apply at least a week before departure. Later than that and there's no buffer if anything needs fixing.
Passport validity under 6 months
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date, not your booking date.
Arriving without accommodation details
Egyptian port authorities can ask for hotel bookings or an itinerary at the border, even with a valid e-Visa in hand.
