Tea, museums, and a passport stamp worth framing.
Indian passport holders need a Standard Visitor visa for the UK β the ETA route isn't open to Indian nationals. The whole application turns on the 'genuine visitor' test, which is really about showing you'll come home, so that's where we focus your paperwork.
A few details for United Kingdom are still pending verification against official sources β we'll update this page as soon as they're confirmed.

Why people go
The UK is often the first European trip for Indian families, and the practical reasons matter as much as the sights: English throughout, a very large Indian-origin population, and Indian food that is genuinely part of the mainstream rather than a niche. Family and university visits drive a large share of trips β the UK has long been a top study destination for Indian students. There is also a deep familiarity to the place from shared history, literature, and cricket that makes the itinerary write itself. Nonstop flights run from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and several other cities to Heathrow and Gatwick.

Common rejection reasons & how to avoid them
Not meeting the 'genuine visitor' test
This is by far the most common UK refusal ground. The caseworker needs to be satisfied you'll leave at the end β thin evidence of a job, property, or family ties back home is what sinks most applications.
Unexplained large deposits in bank statements
Add a short cover letter explaining any lump sums from the last 6 months. Unexplained money reads as borrowed funds.
Not disclosing a previous refusal
Non-disclosure falls under the Part 9 refusal grounds and is treated far more seriously than the original refusal would have been.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. India is on the UK's visa national list, so you need a Standard Visitor visa. The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) route isn't available to Indian passport holders.
