Ireland Short Stay 'C' Visa

Cliffs of Moher, Dublin pubs, and green in every direction.
Ireland is not in the Schengen area, so a Schengen visa won't get you in โ it needs its own short stay 'C' visa, and there's no e-visa option. If you already hold a UK visitor visa, though, there's a shortcut worth knowing about.
A few details for Ireland are still pending verification against official sources โ we'll update this page as soon as they're confirmed.

Why people go
Ireland works for Indian travellers as an English-speaking European trip that sits outside the Schengen process entirely โ a separate visa, but a straightforward one, and the country pairs naturally with a UK itinerary. Student and family visits are a significant share of travel, with Irish universities recruiting steadily from India. On the leisure side the draw is landscape rather than cities: the Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry, and the Wild Atlantic Way are the reason most people come, and the driving loops are compact enough to cover in a week. Dublin's pub and music culture rounds it out.

Common rejection reasons & how to avoid them
Not disclosing a previous visa refusal
Ireland is unusually blunt about this โ it will refuse your application if you leave out a past refusal from any country. Always declare it.
Photocopies instead of originals
Ireland requires hardcopy originals. No photocopies except where explicitly stated, no USB drives, and no file-sharing links.
Documents arriving late
Your documents must reach the visa office within 30 days of creating the online application, or it lapses.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Ireland isn't in the Schengen area, so a Schengen visa won't work โ it needs its own short stay 'C' visa. Ireland also doesn't issue e-visas, so this is a paper application.
