Oman's unsponsored tourist e-visa is open to Indian travellers who hold a valid Schengen visa, or a valid visa or residency from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, or Japan. Without one, you'd need a sponsored visit visa through an Omani host, hotel, or tour operator β€” we'll tell you which applies before you pay.

Why people go

Oman appeals to travellers who want the Arabian landscape without the high-rise version of it β€” forts, wadis, canyon swimming, and desert camps rather than malls and skylines. It is a two to four hour flight from most Indian metros, has centuries of trading links with Gujarat and Kerala, and hosts a large Indian community, so Indian food and Hindi are widely available. It has become a strong self-drive destination too: the roads are excellent and the classic Muscat–Wahiba–Nizwa loop is very manageable in a week. Note that the visa route is the constraint here, not the appeal.

Eligibility

A valid Schengen visa, or a valid visa or residency from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, or Japan β€” this is a hard requirement for the unsponsored route
Passport valid at least 6 months on entry
Confirmed hotel booking in Oman and a return ticket
You must be outside Oman when you apply, and not already hold another Oman visa

Required documents

Upload each of these during your application β€” we check them for issues before anything is submitted.

Valid at least 6 months from your date of entry.

2

Recent, plain background.

3

Your qualifying visa

Valid Schengen visa, or a visa or residency from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, or Japan. Oman won't issue the unsponsored tourist visa without one.

What we do for you

Your Oman visa, in five moves

  1. You send

    your documents

Scan your passport with your phone. We read it automatically.

  2. We check

    every page

Against the rules that apply today β€” not last year's blog post.

  3. We flag

    what won't pass

You hear it from us, with time to fix it.

  4. We file

    at the embassy

And chase it, so you're never on hold to a hotline.

  5. It lands

    on time

Before you fly β€” or your service fee comes back.

Common rejection reasons & how to avoid them

No qualifying Schengen, US, UK, Canada, Australia, or Japan visa

This is the single biggest reason Indian applications fail. Oman's unsponsored tourist e-visa requires one β€” an Indian passport alone isn't enough. If you don't have one, you need a sponsored visa instead.

Applying while already in Oman

You have to be outside the country when you apply, and you can't hold another current Oman visa at the same time.

Letting the visa expire before travelling

Oman's tourist visa must be used within one month of issue β€” shorter than most. Don't apply too far ahead of your trip.
