Island-hop first, sort the stamp later — or before you fly.
Most Indian tourists don't need a visa for stays of up to 30 days in Thailand — a visa-exemption stamp is issued on arrival, free of charge. If you want a visa arranged in advance, need multiple entries, or are staying longer, Thailand's Tourist eVisa (applied for online) covers that — Indian applicants currently pay via an offline method coordinated with the Royal Thai Embassy.
A few details for Thailand are still pending verification against official sources — we'll update this page as soon as they're confirmed.

Why people go
Thailand is the default first overseas trip for a very large number of Indian travellers, and the visa exemption is a big part of why — Indian passport holders get up to sixty days without applying for anything in advance, which removes the single biggest source of friction. Flights are short and cheap, with four to five hour hops from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai and heavy low-cost competition. Once you land, the exchange rate works in your favour: beaches, food, massages, and shopping all cost less than the equivalent in India's own resort towns. It suits very different groups — honeymooners, bachelor parties, families, and backpackers — without much changing the itinerary.

Common rejection reasons & how to avoid them
Blurry or cropped passport scan
Rescan your passport flat, in good lighting, with all edges visible in frame.
Missing proof of onward travel
A one-way ticket without a return or onward booking is a common cause of delay.
Bank balance below the minimum
Your statement needs a stable balance of at least ₹5,00,000 (single entry) — a balance that's too low, or a single large last-minute deposit, is a common rejection trigger.
Frequently asked questions
For tourism stays of up to 30 days, Indian passport holders currently don't need a visa — a visa-exemption stamp is issued free on arrival. This has been the subject of proposed changes in 2026, so always confirm the current rule close to your travel date. Use our eVisa service if you want a visa arranged in advance, need multiple entries, or your policy has changed by the time you travel.
