Why people go

Austria's Indian appeal is unusually well documented on film. The opening sequence of Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) was shot on Innsbruck's Nordkette range, and 'Dil Diyan Gallan' was filmed in Innsbruck's old town. 'Bulleya' from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) was shot inside Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum, and Vienna's Indian film history goes back to Albela, the first Bollywood production to shoot in Salzburg. Salzburg and Innsbruck now run Bollywood-location walking tours aimed squarely at the Indian market. Vienna has also become a serious contender for Indian destination weddings — palace venues, established planners, and hotels comfortable catering Indian menus. Add Air India's nonstop Delhi–Vienna and guaranteed snow at meaningfully lower cost than Switzerland, and it's an easy sell.
